Humane Education
Humane education at Best Friends isn't just for kids or teachers. We offers workshops; internships; study programs for vet students; field trips for schoolchildren; and service programs for youth. There's something for everyone.

The Sanctuary

Angel Canyon, the home of Best Friends, is a miracle of nature, millions of years in the making. For thousands of abused and abandoned animals, what happens here every day is a miracle of love.

The Animals - On any given day, there are about 2,000 dogs, cats and other animals who have come to the sanctuary for special care from shelters and rescue groups all across the country. Once they're here, we make sure nothing bad will ever happen to them again. Many of them are soon ready to go to good new homes with loving families. Others find lifetime care here at the nation's largest sanctuary. For them, Best Friends is a unique home and haven. There's just nothing else like it anywhere.

Visiting Best Friends - And it's not just a sanctuary for animals. About 20,000 people visit here every year from all over the world. After all, Best Friends is at the heart of the Golden Circle of national parks - here in the majestic red-rock country of Southern Utah. You can visit the sanctuary and spend time with the animals, and you're only an hour or so from some of the world's other great natural miracles.
